Between parenting and business, how do we find the time to get it all done? Jill talks with mom and singer/songwriter Sarah Marie Young about time management in the FMC’s latest course 45, Do The Juggle!
From music to baby and back again
Before Sarah had her baby, she spent a lot of time performing and
touring as a musician with the likes of Postmodern Jukebox and others. But once her daughter was born, she felt very strong “mom-guilt” for working… and also felt guilty for not working all the time. She had to learn how to adjust to both of those feelings.
Sarah found a way to involve her daughter in what she does by starting
Sarah’s Music Room. She knew she had to establish a routine, which was key for her.
How do you get it all done?
Sarah’s biggest advice is to recognize that you have limitations – sometimes you won’t get it all done, and that’s okay! It’s important to remain open and flexible… and don’t be afraid to ask for help (just like we do in the FMC!)
How do you deal with mom guilt?
It’s important to remember that every person’s parenting experience is different, and if you think you’re not doing something right or good enough, then you need to go easier on yourself. Sarah shares the mindset that works for her.
