As a small business owner, can I afford a website?
Heather recommends that, for most small businesses, you worry about getting something up. It doesn’t need to be the flashiest thing – and content is important. You want to stay top-of-mind for your customers.
If you build it…
The assumption is that if you put a website up, people will come automatically. But, Heather says, that’s not true. You have to make people want to go to your website, so that’s where promotion comes in. Draw people in through social, or email marketing. Or partner with others to write blogs. You want people to find your content relevant!
What’s the data telling you?
Every website should have Google Analytics, which can tell you if what you’re doing is paying off. You can analyze whether people are staying on your website, what they’re most interested in, and set up goals and conversions.
